Let’s Bring Toonami Back

For April Fool’s Day, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim brought Toonami back for one night as this year’s “joke”. Seeing Tom back on screen, coupled with the airing of shows like: Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Dragonball Z and Trigun was nostalgic to say the very least. The large outpouring from a number of individuals ultimately started a movement to bring Toonami back to Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network was perhaps the first place where I was formally introduced to anime, and I can say that I wouldn’t be here blogging today if not for Toonami. This isn’t just about one generation’s reminiscence on their childhood days. It’s about spreading the word about the amazing world of Japanese animation to the younger generations to come, allowing them to experience the same magic that we all did. I don’t know if younger viewers would experience the same magic we did. When I hear people wanting Toonami back it’s either back with new anime or the old anime they showed before with the same CG’ed host. I don’t have a television so I don’t care too much, but I do understand the importance it played in growing the anime industry.

I agree. Toonami would have to be tweaked quite a bit to tailor it to the newer generations. But, I feel it can be done while still retaining some of its old feel and character.
