The following is a list of the series that Absolute Territory is currently blogging or is interested in blogging.

To give you an idea of the time that anime airs in Japan, Monday 6AM in Japan would be Sunday 2PM in California (PST) with Daylight Savings in effect.

Fall 2011

Kimi to Boku
Official Website
Airing Time: Mondays
Number of Episodes: 13
More Information: Wikipedia
Status: Dropped. Its just not interesting enough.

Thoughts:
I am interested in this show solely based on the fact that I have never, ever seen a slice of life anime centered on a group of boys in a “nichijou” sort of sense. For this reason, I wouldn’t place shows like Ouran with all of its boy’s love and pompous premise in the same category. My prediction is that I’ll quickly get bored as I do with most shows of this genre, but the show IS being produced by J.C. Staff and who knows, it might surprise.

Chihayafuru
Official Website
Airing Time: Tuesdays
Number of Episodes: 25
More Information: Wikipedia

Thoughts:
“Chihaya Ayase, who after seeing her sister become a fashion model, is inspired by a new classmate to take up karuta competitively.” Hmm.. this sound vaguely like Saki, that mahjong anime from awhile back. I’ve played karuta in Japanese class before and can’t really imagine how one would play the game seriously at a competitive level. However, the manga is well-written and doesn’t take it self too seriously. I feel Chihayafuru could turn out to be one of those hidden gems that get buried under all the hype of the big name shows and am looking forward to its debut.

Persona 4 the ANIMATION
Official Website
Airing Time: Thursdays
Number of Episodes: 25
More Information: Wikipedia
Status: Watching

Thoughts:
I was pleasantly surprised to learned that PS:4 was being adapted into an anime. I for one enjoyed everything about the game: the storyline, the dynamics of the characters and of course the actual gameplay. After watching the PVs it seems that AIC has kept close to the animation style from the game. Personally, I’m not that big of a fan of Atlus’ cut-scene production quality and am secretly hoping that the animation for the show itself will be a VAST improvement over the games (which it no doubt should be). The show was put into the capable hands of director Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!) which is a plus. One thing I’m curious about is if they will attempt to play out the romance aspect of the game with the MC, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. All in all it will be an interesting show and as long as they don’t stray too far from the source material, I can see no reason why this show wouldn’t be a hit.

Guilty Crown

Airing Time: Thursdays
Number of Episodes: 24(ish)

Thoughts:
It seems as though there has been a lot of hype building about this show, probably due to the amazing PV put out for the series. I’m personally a big fan of shows set in a dystopian world starring an seemingly average high schooler who teams up with a girl to save the world. Sounds a bit familiar right? Coincidentally, Hiroyuki Yoshino who was responsible for Code Geass also wrote the screen play for this show. I was a big fan of Code Geass so there is no doubt it my mind that I will gobble up anything this show throws at me without hesitation. However, I am praying that the quality of the show will not plummet into mediocrity halfway through the season as many 2-cours end up doing.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

Airing Time: Thursdays
Number of Episodes: Unknown

Thoughts:
Ahh… a nice romantic comedy to balance out the season. There’s not much else of a reason as to why I want to watch this show other then the solid character design, which to my surprise was NOT done by Nishida Asako (Denpa Onna). The similarity between the two probably has something to do with the lips hahaha… I’m not exactly expecting this show to blow the socks off my feet story wise, but that’s usually not a common feature of harem comedy type shows in the first place.

Shakugan no Shana III
Official Website
Airing Time: Fridays
Number of Episodes: 24
More Information: Wikipedia
Status: Watching

Thoughts:
Wow, I can’t believe that it’s been six years since Shakugan no Shana started airing on television. I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of the show, but after watching a few episodes of the second season I was reluctant to continue. It’s not that I don’t like the show but it just feels as if there’s nothing new or surprising for J.C. Staff to bring to the table. Shana’s “Urusai! Urusai! Urusai!” gets a little tiring to hear after awhile and don’t even get me started on Kazumi. One thing that I have a personal distaste for is the token childhood friend who gets stuck in a love triangle with the main character and the female lead (Fate/Stay Night, Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi, etc.) but none of them have annoyed me as much as Kazumi. In the end I’ll probably end up watching this since the series is finally reaching its climax. I feel like I’ve been saying this about a lot of shows but who knows, maybe SnS will shock and amaze me like never before.

Fate/Zero
Official Website
Airing Time: Saturdays
Number of Episodes: 25
More Information: Wikipedia
Status: Blogging (clazy)

Thoughts:
WHOOOHOOOOO! Fate/Zero! I’m actually pretty stoked for this one as I am a huge Type-Moon fan. The second season follows the events that occur a generation before Fate/Stay Night during the 4th Holy Grail War. The universe of Fate/Stay night is so vast and complex that the first season and the UBW movie barely scratched the surface of all the happenings that occurred within the contents of the visual novels. This upcoming season should serve to answer a couple of questions that may have been left unexplained from the previous season. Its gonna be epic.

Thoughts:
This show could either be an extreme hit or an utter failure. On one hand the plot sounds ridiculously intriguing and the fight scenes from the PV look top notch. On the other hand I’m hoping that they don’t overdo the fan service and make this show into another Infinite Stratos. But I’m actually not really sure what direction Sunrise is trying to take with this show. The PV gives us a little bit of everything so I’ll reserve my judgement until the show airs.
