Tamako Market – 05

Short Summary:

Tamako, Midori, Kanna, and Shiori go to the pool so that they can practice their swimming for their school’s summer school trip to the beach. Mocchi really wants to go as well but he has to watch the shop (and he’s too shy). Dela tries to console him and convinces Mochizou to confess his feelings on the school trip through a love letter. Midori discovers his plan, however, and stops Dela right before he can give her Mocchi’s love letter. Mochizou confronts Midori about why she did this and she says it’s to protect her friend from his creepy stalker-ness (we know it’s something else though). During the swimming event, Midori asks Tamako what she thinks about Mocchi and says they’re just childhood friends. This gives Midori the relief she needs and tries to egg Mochizou on to confess; he decides otherwise and wants to remain friends.

Thoughts:

Well, while I can’t say I wasn’t expecting that kind of uneventful episode, I was really hoping that Mocchi would at least try to tell Tamako his feelings even knowing she wouldn’t reciprocate/understand. He had a prime opportunity for a pool event too! Dela’s way of comforting him was hilarious and that entire scene of trying to amp him up was spectacularly lol. In other news, we also discovered Midori’s true bitchy side. She cockblocked Mocchi all episode and she was really getting on my nerves. You can’t classify her “unconfirmed affection” towards Tamako as pure-hearted anymore, that’s for sure… not after actively trying to prevent the two from pairing up. And it’s not like Mocchi is some creep, he’s her childhood friend who obviously cares for her. What a bitch.

Although this show is still entertaining, I hope it doesn’t turn into simply Dela-gags all the time. For example: Dela being preyed upon by the local cats, birds, and dogs. The unfunnyness nearly hurt to watch. At least Tamako is still “stupid-cute” enough to make me want to watch; her inability at swimming was by far the best part of the episode.
