Minami-ke Tadaima – 02
Short Summary:
April Fool’s day comes around and Touma angers her older brothers by falsely screaming that there’s a fire the in house. As punishment, she doesn’t get dinner so she goes to the Minami household for dinner instead. Kana pulls a double trick on Touma by telling Fujioka that Touma is actually a girl, which he goes along with for the time being since he knew all along it was 4/1. Touma, not knowing this, runs home in embarrassment. Meanwhile, Makoto finally has the resolve to tell Haruka that he’s a boy, but alas he is too blissfully happy when he spends time there as a girl and forgets. Touma shows off her craftsmanship ability by creating an exact replica of Fujioka (bear) out of a blue cushion; the Minami girls see this as a way to get a bunch of nice clothes for free.
Thoughts:
As much as I want to stop watching this show because I know how boring some episodes can be, this episode was actually pretty funny, showcasing the continuation the infamous male-female mix-ups of Makoto and Touma. So, I suppose I will keep this on my watch list… the character designs are of such a high QUALITY that the light humor is just what I need to brighten my day. And when I say light humor I mean really lighthearted humor. I don’t think I’ve had a full-on hearty laugh in 2.5 seasons of Minami-ke, but I did blow a lot of air through my nose at the last scene of this episode: Kana’s minor hair change and Chiaki’s inability to notice the blue Fujioka (bear).
Maybe I’ll just watch until Hosaka makes his grand debut. He really is my favorite character because of his fabulous poses and devious schemes to make Haruka fall for him. Well, Uchida is a close second for my favorite character for her full-baka moments, so I guess I’ll just have to keep watching. It’s not like they will have a fifth season, right? It has to end with this one, right? RIGHT??
