Summary: After destroying the competition in the school athletic festival relay race, Haruhi realizes that they need to get ready for their school’s Culture Festival. Basically, the plot for this episode is a setting up for the movie production episodes to come. Haruhi, after seeing a real boring-ass movie the night before, is inspired to make her own movie using the SOS-dan. She then proceeds to make Mikuru the main heroine, Yuki the villian, and Kyon the random tasks person (aka bitch). Mikuru, Haruhi, and Kyon then acquire the materials they needed for their movie including a camera (It’s a Sony) and 2 model guns for their gun action scene. Of course, we know that no pay is required since the shops are being refunded in the mid-movie advertisement.

Random Thoughts: After the craziness of the last 8 weeks, this episode seemed especially light-hearted and serene. The dialogue and jokes between Haruhi and Kyon were hilarious and really enjoyable for some reason… probably because there hasn’t been anything new all summer. When Haruhi tried to serve tea to Kyon and he just flat out rejects her was hilarious. Oh and one more thing. Shiraishi returns! lol. I was waiting to see when the Taniguchi/Kunikida duo would come back. Too bad it was only for one scene. There are also cameo appearances from ENOZ and the Computer club, people who fans may have altogether forgot due to the Endless Eight tragedy.

The facial expressions of the SOS-dan after some jokes in this episode were pretty priceless. I tried to screenshot some but I missed a lot, lol. Especially the scene where Mikuru tries to get out of movie by pretending she had other things to do. Pissed Haruhi’s face was pissed.

I laughed so hard when Mikuru was all flustered shifting her eyes between Kyon and Koizumi after Koizumi said that he was interested at what kind of movie Haruhi will think of making, while staring at her. Jesus, too bad it wasn’t a ero movie. lol. Nah. I really want to see KyoAni’s animation of the epic Mikuru beam contact lenses scene. Layzer Pew Pew Pew.
