Short Summary: Kyon and Mikuru travel back to the past in order for Kyon to start everything. After Mikuru loses her time traveling device, a younger Yuki saves them.

Thoughts: Oh man, Mikuru. gg. No wonder my 3 years ago self fell in love with anime after watching season 1. No matter what other people say, episode 00 is probably one of the best episodes for me.

Speaking of 3 years ago, no wonder KyoAni waited 3 years for season 2. I mean, if they waited 3 years in the show, then waiting 3 years irl matches perfectly, amirite? NO FUCK THAT. It’s about fuckin time they came out with a new episode and stopped playing with our heads. I mean, seriously. There was the Lucky Star picture with Haruhi Season 2 on it, there was that one irl video they released of a couple of ppl sneaking into a school to draw alien symbols on the ground, and there was definitely more shit in newtype. Fuckin’ Newtype.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty good episode. The difference in animation style is pretty noticeable, though. Kyon changed quite a bit, probably from all that Tomoya KyoAni got influenced by, lol. They presented this part of the story pretty well considering that this part in the novel is fucking insanely hard to follow… I remember just falling asleep at my desk.

I can totally see how some people think that Kyon has all the power, and not Haruhi. That entire part about chess that Koizumi talked about definitely points toward that theory. How Kyon is the king and Haruhi is the queen, and although the queen has the power, the king is the one that counts the most.

The new ending is pretty upbeat and catchy, pretty much like all the other haruhi songs. I think the animators had some pressure trying to make it as good as Hare Hare Yukai but realized that nothing can compare to the first season. Considering that they also did a dancing animation for Lucky Star, and might make one for K-ON, I think if they made another dance it would be pretty cliche. But, they do have an OP spot open. I’m assuming they’re still working on it.
