Shakugan no Shana – Movie

03Oct07

Thoughts:
The Shakugan no Shana Movie takes place from the beginning of season one up until the end of the Friange arc. (Friange is the guy with the little doll)

If you were watching this hoping to see new content, theres not too much in here that would justify watching it if you had recently watched the first season. Maybe a few more Shana shots here and there and more refined animation, but thats about it. However, I did like the fact that it was more fast paced then the TV show and they didn’t bother to show some of the retarded things that were in the anime. The fight with Friange was also drawn out more and made 10x more epic then I remember it being. The one thing that they changed was that Alastor was released after Shana fought with Friange which was pretty strange but whatever. The ending was pretty much the same as the end of the Friange arc. Yuuji is sad because he is disappearing but then he realizes that the Reiji Maigo makes him live forever and everyone is happy.

All in all, this was a good recap of the first third of Shakugan no Shana and should have me prepared for season 2. I forgot how awesome Shana was. Kind of sad that the movie wasn’t new content though. O well… I’ll get a lot of that this fall.

this movie renewed my love for shana…
and shana was really awesome here…
for me she didn’t get annoying like at some points in the anime…
she had less tsun here and more dere… which is a nice mix for a tsundere for me…

I seem to remember that Alastor was released at that point in the novel, too.

I was kind of confused since Yuuiji and Shana weren’t that close at the end of the first arc. They pretty much changed the entire ending of the Friagane arc and made it so that they find out Shana can summon Alastor without him consuming her.

But I did like the extended fight scenes, and thought that the final battle was especially epic.
