Wow. This was very unexpected. Seeing a bit of Kanata’s history revealed caught me off guard. I never realized Lucky Star could so easily touch on something like this. Its almost criminal how easy it is for Kyoto Animation to make such an emotion filled scene. The only other instance that I can remember when Lucky Star touched a bit on the serious side was when Kagami had a fight with her sister. It was pretty touching how close Kanata and Sou were to each other and it made feel pretty sad when I came to realize that Kanata passed away. Too bad… Kanata is pretty awesome and she would have lasted a bit longer in Saimoe if this ep aired before her round. On a happier note, the Shirashi ED was pretty epic.

Got all gushy and sentimental when I saw this episode. I agree that if was shown earlier, Kanata would have won her round in Saimoe.
kanata is pretty awesome. this wasn’t the best episode ever, but idk. GL 23 owned this. srsly. that scene with the gurren lagann going into space in the background of kamina’s grave was more emotionally moving for me than this episode.
@clazy GL and LS aren’t even close to being the same kind of anime, really don’t know why you’d try to compare them, both are good in their own right.
