Gurren Lagann continues to be awesome every week. The animation is pretty well done also in this episode. Well, it should be, since they take out the last 2 generals in one episode. I kind of like how fast they are moving, unlike some other animes that drag battles out for 15 episodes when Namek was supposed to blow up in 5 minutes… or something like that.

Summary:
Leeron adds flight capability to all the Gunmen and the Daiganzan, so now it’s a massive air battle between the Daiganzan and Daiganten. Except this time around, Guame is also present at the battle and attacking the Gurren Brigade from the ground. Simon and Rossiu take the Gurren Lagann and fight in the sky while everyone else attacks Guame’s ground forces. Simon takes care of Cytomander’s fleet easily, but is pinned by 4 other Gunmen and attacked by Cytomander’s custom Gunman: Shuzaku. Luckily, other humans from the places the Gurren Brigade saved came to help. Shuzaku and Daiganten both got owned easily. Guame is left in his Daigando, which makes a massive tornado. The tornado owns the reckless people that jump straight into it, but Nia uses a projector to stop them. She says that Simon will stop the tornado “BECAUSE HIS DRILL WILL REACH THE HEAVENS!!!” …oh, I bet his drill reached your heavens, amirite?
Anyway, Simon and Rossiu are drilling underground and go under the Daigando to try to spin it the opposite direction to stop the tornado’s spin. After a huge 3 minute struggle, Simon prevails and destroys the Daigando. Everyone celebrates, but then the giant spiral in the ground reveals itself as a massive enemy Gunman.

Thoughts:
And this is the first cliffhanger I can remember since the episode before Kamina’s death. Yea…or maybe the first episode when they get caught by 3 other Gunmen. I dunno. Anyway, I thought some of the animation was kind of…unnecessary. Like when the Daiganzan owned the Daiganten…lol. And when Rossiu and Simon were charging up for their final attack.
