Summary:
The episode starts with a idol-type girl singing at a concert. Her name is Luna and it just so happens that she is also a mermaid. When San’s name is mentioned she recalls a past memory when they had a singing contest with San. Luna goes up to the stage and sings a pop song for the group of Yakuza. She is proud of her performance and says that the voice is a very important part a mermaid because it is their weapon and so she must defeat San to prove that she is superior. However, San goes up and sings the Momotaro song and ends up bringing the audience to tears with her sheer cuteness. I was laughing so hard. (I actually know that song). San is declared the winner, and Luna is crushed and vows to beat San, creating a bitter rivalry-like relationship between the two.
After school, it starts to rain while Nagasumi is walking home when he spots a girl lying in the middle of the path. It turns out to be Luna, who was caught unprepared for the weather and ended up growing her mermaid tail. After being seen, Lunar calls upon her two bodyguards (who are extremely hilarious) to take him away. However, San comes and rescues Nagasumi. The two bodyguards are reminded of San’s singing at the contest and immediately listen to her when she says to give Nagasumi back to her. Luna is taken to Nagasumi’s house and finds out that San is Nagasumi’s yomesan. Filled with a burning desire to beat San at something Luna decides to steal Nagasumi from San and declares that she too wants Nagasumi and engage in a battle.
The next morning Nagasumi wakes up thinking that the events from the previous day was just a dream. But he turns to find Luna sleeping in his futon. Comes up to Nagasumi’s room to wake him up when she finds Luna in his room. She is outraged and asks what she is doing in his room. Luna replies by asking her if she has ever slept with Nagasumi. San says that she hasn’t and Lunar laughs in her face saying that she already has slept with Nagasumi. San is crushed and says that even though she is Nagasumi’s bride his first kiss was stolen by Masa. (LOL) Meanwhile, downstairs Nagasumi’s parents are scared out of their minds by Luna’s two body guards.
It turns out that Luna transfered to the same school that Nagasumi and San are in and she is in the same class as them. (what a surprise) She immediately wins the class over with her cute idol mode greeting and constantly challenges San over who is more popular among the boys. During math class with Masa, San is asked to go up to the board to do a problem. She has a hard time and the class cheers her on until she finally gets it. Next, Luna is asked to answer a question, but she doesn’t know how to do it so she once again turns on her cute idol mode and says that she doesn’t know how to do it. But, it doesn’t work on Masa who tells her that its a very simple problem that she should be able to do. The class goes crazy on Masa, but Nagasumi defends him saying that he can do no wrong. Suddenly the class is divided between San and Luna as their favorite girl and math class is forgotten.
Thoughts:
This episode completely restored my interest in Seto no Hanayome. The 5th and 6th eps were meh.. and I didn’t really care for Mawari that much. But Luna on the other hand is crazy. She is an exact replica of Akira. They are both idols, both have similar colored hair and both have a cutesy, innocent personality on the surface but are actually vicious and angry when they don’t get what they want. But you can’t hate either of them because they are so kawaii ~_~; Seto’s “HAHAHA” when she was talking to the bodyguard was so funny and the bodyguards themselves were pretty ridiculous. Their english reminds me of Samurai Champloo. lol at the dragon balls. Things are starting to get interesting now that there is actually competition to San. Looking forward to next week’s Ep.
