Romeo x Juliet – 02

14Apr07

Summary:
Romeo and Juliet confront each other in front of a fountain at the ball. Romeo asks Juliet what her name is but Benvolio interrupts their conversation and Juliet runs away. She is picked up by Curio and Fransisco who take her back home. Romeo cannot keep his mind off of Juliet and when is father announces that Hermione and he are getting married he is not thrilled at all. He is disinterested with Hermione and he leaves in the middle of a dance telling her that he doesn’t feel too good.
Juliet is awakened by Cordelia who wishes her a happy 16th birthday. Juliet then decides to go and fight crime under the disguise of the Red Whirlwind along with Antonio. They encounter a noble who takes girls away from their families and they decide to stop him. Juliet jumps onto the carriage and fights the noble’s henchmen while Antonio cuts the bindings around the captured girls hands. However, Juliet gets her sword knocked of her hand and is about to be slashed when Curio jumps in to save her. They then take Juliet to a doctor to treat her wounds and then they head home.

Later Juliet goes up to Cordelia and asks her where she can find Iris flowers. Cordelia is angry that Juliet is in her dress and she asks why she wants to know so badly. Juliet reluctantly hints at her meeting with Romeo and Cordelia finally agrees to tell her where they are. Juliet rushes there and confronts Romeo. She tells him her name and also that it is her birthday today. Romeo looks around for a present for her and gives her a Iris flower. He asks Juliet to meet at this same spot tomorrow. Juliet agrees and runs off towards her house. When she arrives they throw a party for her. She appears in her normal clothes and Antonio is shocked to learn that Odin is really a girl. They then take a carriage to a graveyard where Conrad finally reveals that Juliet’s family was killed by the Montagues and that she is the last remaining Capulet and group of men come forward and bow down in front of her.

Thoughts:
Yay. Gonzo has actually made an episode two that doesn’t suck. That fight scene with the carriage was pretty crazy and they must put more in cause its so awesome. I’m pretty pleased that Gonzo has chosen to expand a bit and not follow so closely to the actual play. Perhaps the ending will be different from the actual Romeo and Juliet (hopefully).

The show’s pretty good imho, the only problem with it is how predictable the characters tend to be
