Romeo x Juliet – 01

05Apr07

Summary:
Its a dark and stormy night. The Montague family proceeds to kill off the remainder of the Capulet family. Juliet and Cordelia are little at the time and witness the death of her father. They are found and the Montagues pursue the two children. Right as they are about to be killed, the remaining group of knights loyal to the Capulet family rescues them.
In the present, soldiers are looking for Juliet and they have captured a girl with the possibility that it may be Juliet. However, she is rescued by a man in dressed in red who they affectionately name the Red Whirlwind. He cuts the bindings on the girl and proceeds to completely annihilate the guards. He then makes his escape and runs into Cordelia who he takes along with her. They continue to run but reach a broken bridge. The Red Whirlwind attempts to fend of the guards but the floor gives out under him and he plummets downward. However, Romeo comes on his flying horse and rescues him.
The Red Whirlwind is revealed to be a person named Odin and he makes his way back to the theater with Cordelia. Odin is thinking about Romeo and Cordelia comes and pulls of a wig from Odin’s head revealing his long hair. In fact, Odin is actually a girl named Juliet.
Emilia is going to the Rose Ball and tells Juliet to come with her. Juliet reluctantly agrees and gets dressed up. However, a noble comes in and takes her away thinking that she is Emilia leaving the real Emilia in the dust. When Juliet arrives she has a strange feeling that she had been to this place before and she runs outside to a fountain to calm down. She then hears a man’s voice asking her if she’s okay. Juliet turns around to see Romeo.

Thoughts
That was pretty amazingly good animation. Hopefully it doesn’t drop as the season goes on. Anyway, was I supposed to be shocked when I found out that Red Whirlwind = Odin = Juliet? I guess its because I watched the Promo and the OP kind of gave it away. I’m curious as to how closely they will follow the actual story (at the moment not very closely) and I thought that it was pretty amusing that they put William into the series.
